Mayor Mamdani Helps Repair New York City's 200,000th Pothole of 2026

By NYC Arab PostSeptember 17, 2026

New York City Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani joined city workers on Thursday, September 17, 2026, to repair the 200,000th pothole fixed across the city since the beginning of the year. The milestone repair took place on Troutman Street in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

The mayor worked alongside New York City Department of Transportation NYC DOT crews and Ra-mel, a NYC311 employee who receives pothole complaints and helps direct them to the appropriate agencies so repairs can be completed quickly.

According to the Mayor's Office, NYC DOT crews continue to repair approximately 3,000 potholes each week while expanding street repaving, considered the most effective way to prevent new potholes. The department has also paved 757 lane miles across the five boroughs this year. (nyc.gov)

In April, Mamdani participated in repairing the city's 100,000th pothole of the year on Staten Island, marking the highest number filled during the first 100 days of a year in more than a decade.

The event highlighted the work of city employees and the role of NYC311 in responding to residents' concerns and addressing everyday neighborhood problems. NYC311 connects New Yorkers with more than 200 city agencies and nonprofit organizations and operates around the clock through telephone calls, its website, mobile application, text messages and social media.

New Yorkers can report potholes and request assistance with other nonemergency services by calling 311 or visiting nyc.gov/311.
